COMPANY POLICY ON HEALTH & SAFETY AT WORK

It is the policy of EAM to do all that is reasonable to prevent personal injury and damage to property, and to protect everyone (including the public) from foreseeable work hazards in so far as they come in contact with the company or its products. The company aims, so far as is reasonable practicable, to provide:-

a) safe and healthy working conditions for all its employees.

b) basic training and instruction, where necessary, to enable employees to perform their work safely
and efficiently. Specific training in accident prevention will be given to management and supervisors so that good housekeeping standards are maintained.

c) make available all necessary safety devices and personal protective equipment as required and supervise its use.

d) maintain a constant and continuing interest in health and safety matters by consulting and involving employees.

e) contact with relevant health and safety bodies like the British Safety Council so that up-to-date knowledge on legislation, codes of practice, and guidance relating to these activities is available.

f) that work done by EAM Building Contractors does not affect non-employees such as Sub-Contractors or Visitors whilst they are on company premises or, when delivering or installing goods on premises of other firms, the employees of that firm.

g) training and joint consultation in order to enable these objectives to be achieved.

Under Section 7, Health and Safety at Work Act, 1974 it is the duty of every employee to co-operate with the employer in meeting these statutory duties.

Regulation 12, Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations, 1999 requires all employees to report any defect in personal protective equipment or safety devices to the employer.

A "Defects Book" is kept in the office in which such defects must be recorded.

[Revisions will be made to this policy whenever necessary in the light of changes in legislation or accident prevention techniques. Reference should also be made to the Organisation, Arrangements and Procedures which implement this statement of policy]. Refer to BEC Procedures.
